So every time my iPhone goes off, it's because some one has checked in on Facebook and it's really annoying, any help?

You need to change a toggle in your Settings app on your iPhone (not in the FaceBook app)
Open your Settings app, scroll down and click FaceBook. Click "Push Notifications". At the bottom of this window change the "yes" to "no" for "Nearby Friends". That should do it.
