Is there a way to get instant notifications from Facebook on Android 2.1?

From what I read, Android 2.1 does not support push notifications. The official Facebook app lets you set how often it checks for notifications, but the lowest setting is every 30 minutes. Is there a way to get it to check, say, every minute? Maybe a different app? SOMETHING?

Let me make this super clear. I HAVE the Facebook app. Ok? The problem is that is only updates every 30 minutes, and I want instant alerts. I do not, however, want text messages. They suck and I don't like them. Now can someone please actually read what I have posted and give me a real answer? I'm not a moron. I came here looking for something I *haven't* already thought of.
