facebook notification on blackberry won't go away?

I have a blackberry curve 8530, and on the top of the home screen where the time is, the facebook icon is there with a one next to it. and when I highlight the facebook app, it says "(1) facebook"
I checked if I have any notifications but I don't have any new ones. I went on the computer to clear them out but it still stays there.

I pulled the battery twice already but that number 1 doesn't want to go away!
who knows what to do?

Go to your notifications and go right up to the top (today's date bar), then try "Mark Prior Opened" from the menu.

If that doesn't work, you could try "delete prior" (if you don't care about any of the notifications on your handheld - don't worry they won't be deleted from your desktop).

If neither of those work, uninstall the app and reinstall. Hopefully you don't need to go that far though.
