Is there a way to block notifications on Facebook?

I'm not talking about the notifications they send to your e-mail, but the ones the appear in the lower right hand corner. I keep getting really annoying ones from applications I don't have, like the one where you ask and unlock questions, and the name generators, and I'd like to get rid of them.

Go there http://www.facebook.com/notifications.php (You'av to log in first)
And on the right side you'll see *applications you have authorized*
Just uncheck the application(s) you don't want to see notifications from.

Yeah... just click on the bulletin board that brings up those notifications and once the box comes up, click on 'See All' in the top right-hand corner of it. It will bring you to a screen that shows all your recent notifications and on the right side there's a box that lists all the apps you're currently getting notifications from. Click the small box next to the names of the apps you do NOT want to receive notifications from to uncheck it.
