Bonus Question: How do you set your settings on facebook so that notifications and crap like that wont go to my email account?

Check the box at the top of the list of emails that says sender, which will highlight all the emails and click delete. They will all go into the trash.

And select the tick mark near
Email Frequency:
this will send you important updates and summary emails instead of individual notification emails.

You may have many emails, some important and some not important, simply you may go to check all options in the left side of gmail, and click delete all if you need to delete all, also you have the option for saving your important emails in this process.
