Is there a way to change my settings on Facebook so I can't see what my friends have liked or commented on?

Is there a way to change my settings on Facebook so I can't see what my friends have liked or commented on?
I'm tired of seeing pictures on my newsfeed of ill people posted by groups where they say 'one like= 1 pray' and sh*t like that. It's not fair on the people in the pictures who are suffering because I doubt they want their picture all over Facebook. Also I hate how things get blown out of context like I seen a picture of someone winding a baby after a feed and its lips were blue because of trapped wind. Someone was holding the babies necking helping to wind it like your supposed to do, but the admin of the group says 'one like= one punch to the guy chocking the baby' when that isn't even what's going on in the picture! My friends are daft enough to like this stuff so is there a way I can hide or get rid of what my friends like and comment on so it doesn't show up on my news feed? Also do you agree with these pictures that are circulating around Facebook?

Go to settings tab > account settings > Timeline and tagging tab, then edit which things you want to see on your timeline and who can tag you. If you don't want to get tons of notifications then select the notification tab and deselect the notifications you don't wanna get.
